We had our annual Pet Memorial service today, where we took the time to remember those special members of our family with whom we have shared great joy throughout the years.
Last Sunday we recognized the members of our temple’s Cub Pack and Girl Scouts, as well as a few members from other troops who were here as our guests for Scout Sunday.

We held our last Dharma School service of 2016. Also, our Jr. YBA cabinet was installed, and we enjoyed otoki from Rutts afterwards.
We held our Eitaikyo service, when we remembered all those whose contributions to the temple in the past allow us to continue to hear the dharma today. After the service, we recognized the attainment of Kaikyoshi status by Rev. Kory Quon, and also celebrated his birthday during otoki.
The staff for the VHBT Dharma School was formally installed last Sunday. Afterwards we had a nice luncheon at C&O Cucina.
At the beginning of September, several members of the VHBT visited the Getty Museum to see a special exhibit featuring Buddhist artwork in a replica of cave temples located in China.
We celebrated Rev. Kory’s first year as resident minister of the Venice Hongwanji Buddhist Temple with a special service & luncheon.
The Venice Hongwanji Buddhist Temple’s Obon Festival was held on the weekend of July 16 & 17, 2016
This year’s conference was co-hosted by Buddhist Temple of San Diego and Vista Buddhist Temple.
